May's Movies

These are the films I have watched in May :)

They came together (2014)
I LOVED this film! I happened to come across this film on Netflix and I love Amy Poehler so thought I would give it a watch! This film starts off with a couple (the one on the film poster) telling some friends about how they ended up together. Their story is basically a spoof of all romantic comedies. It's really obvious with the way they mimic the genre but I thought it was hilarious. I love romantic comedies but they do seem to follow the same storyline without a lot changing between films so it was refreshing to watch this film.

Hot tub time machine (2010)
I've wanted to watch this film for ages because it looked quite funny and it seemed like a good cast. The film is about a group of friends who come together after one of them ends up in hospital. They decide to go on holiday to this place they used to go to as teenagers. Once there, they get into the hot tub and something happens that ends up with them being in the 80's where they must make sure that the youngest (John Cusack's characters nephew) gets born. This film was weird because I did enjoy it but I just didn't find it funny. I will probably watch the sequel when it comes out later this year, but purely to see if the sequel will be funny.

Star Wars Episode 1,2 & 3
I've always wanted to watch the Star Wars films. I am a big fan of sci-fi films and I can remember watching the first 2 films when I was younger but I don't really remember a lot. I decided that now I have finished Uni and have no more work to do I would finally watch them! I can't believe I have waited this long, they are amazing! The prequel films focus mainly on the Jedi's fight against the dark side to keep balance. This is through different battles throughout the three films. We are introduced to the characters in the original trilogy and their back story such as, Anakin Skywalker, aka Darth Vader, Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi. I decided to watch the films this way around so I could understand the back story of the characters when I watch the original trilogy which will probably be very soon!

Serial Mom
Serial Mom was something I saw on Netflix and I thought it looked like something I would enjoy. It was perfect, this film was funny but dramatic in the right balance! The film is about the perfect normal mother in the suburbs who is also a serial killer. Anyone that annoys her or upsets her family, they will be dead soon, such as the woman who doesn't recycle. I really enjoyed this film and was pleasantly surprised at how funny it was! I loved it, if you like films that are abit gorey but funny you'll love this!
